Yep, you hear it right, today is the day, its GOOGLE birthday as Internet search engine. During the early years after its inception, Google celebrated its birthday on the 7th of September. However, for past few years, the date has shifted to 27th September.

Originally, Google ran under the Stanford University website, with the domain google.stanford.edu.
The original named for google was '*Googol' which was meant to signify the amount of information the search engine was to handle. But somehow they misspell it on their page as Google.
google.com The domain was registered on September 15, 1997, and the company was incorporated on September 4, 1998 .
*(A googol is the large number 10100, that is, the digit 1 followed by one hundred zeros:)
